Plain and simple, there are WAY too many puppies and dogs out there who need help – and they are multiplying. Part of this problem is that a great number of owners fail to spay or neuter, treat their pets humanely, or abuse, neglect, and abandon them. We only have a canine problem because we have a people problem.
The rescues are full, the shelters are full, and too many pups and dogs get euthanized because there is no place for them – or they die miserable deaths on the streets or at the pound.
Will we see an end to this in our lifetime? Probably not. You don’t have to be good at math to know the problem is exponential. But what do we do, quit? No, we just have to keep educating the public, caring for their discards, and hoping to make some small difference.
